How your skin affects your eyes.
Some of the thinnest, most sensitive areas of skin are around your eyes. These areas of skin don’t produce the same amount of collagen as the rest of your body, which can lead to droopy, wrinkled, aged-looking skin.
Conditions like ocular rosacea, blepharitis, and eczema can also cause eye problems that make maintaining eye comfort challenging. Our goal at BRIGHT Eyes is to reinforce the skin around your eyes with modern techniques, giving it the healthy, youthful glow you deserve while preserving your eye comfort.
Healthy, vibrant-looking skin is something you have to monitor and maintain. We offer a few different in-house treatments to bolster your skin health, but we can also provide a range of products you can use at home.
Your skin and eyes deserve to be as comfortable as possible. Still, it’s difficult to keep your eyes comfortable if you’re struggling with a skin condition around your eyes.
Skin Issues That Affect Your Eyes
-
Ocular Rosacea
Ocular rosacea is a skin condition that can cause redness, inflammation, dry eye, and eye infections. Ocular rosacea generally develops as an early symptom of rosacea, which can cause redness, itchiness, and visible bumps and veins around the entire face.
A healthy skin care routine and regular clinical support with IPL treatments can help minimize symptoms and preserve skin aesthetics and eye health.
-
Eyelid Eczema
Eczema is a common skin condition that can develop at any age on virtually any part of the body. Redness and itchiness often characterize eczema symptoms, but eczema around the eye and eyelid can lead to several uncomfortable symptoms like dry eye, flaky skin, and blepharitis.
Eczema can develop for numerous reasons. Treatments can range from topical ointments, allergy medication, or even therapeutic treatments we offer exclusively at BRIGHT Eyes.
-
Blepharitis
Blepharitis can cause redness, puffy eyelids, flaky skin around the eyes, and light sensitivity. Although blepharitis is a common symptom of conditions like rosacea, other issues like dry eye, allergies, and poor eyelid hygiene can also cause symptoms.
To help treat the condition, we may recommend eye hygiene treatments in our Eye Spa, light-based therapies, and an at-home hygiene regimen with eyelid cleansers.
-
Stye & Chalazion
A stye is a small, red, and tender lump in the eyelid. The lump forms when an meibomian (oil) gland is blocked, preventing the oil from reaching the eye’s surface (essential for maintaining moisture). People can suffer from recurring styes when they have certain chronic health conditions, including blepharitis, rosacea, or tuberculosis.
IPL treatment and LLLT phototherapy can help resolve a stye, or a more persistent chalazion, by releasing the trapped oil, reducing eyelid inflammation, and decreasing excess bacteria. It can also relieve the burden of home care, as one treatment can often resolve a stye or chalazion within 3-5 days.
To simplify your at-home treatment regimen, we’ve curated a Stye Care Kit, with our favorite tea tree oil-based eyelid cleanser, antimicrobial hypochlorous spray, and heated eye compress.
