Find the right care for your dry eyes.
Whether you spend long hours using digital devices, can no longer wear your contacts, or have complex ocular surface disease, it can be hard to find relief.
Too often patients are recommended artificial tears, which may provide temporary relief, but do not treat the root cause of the problem. The underlying cause of your ocular surface disease must be properly diagnosed in order to prescribe a targeted and effective treatment.
At BRIGHT Eyes in Boone, North Carolina, we fully focus on diagnosing and treating ocular surface issues. This level of specialized, advanced dry eye care has not been available in the High Country until now.

Dry Eye Treatments
OptiLight Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)
Revitalize your eyes and skin with our Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatment designed to provide dry eye relief and rejuvenate your complexion. This advanced treatment utilizes the proven power of OptiLight IPL, targeting inflammation in ocular rosacea and improving meibomian gland function for long-lasting dry eye comfort. A series of 4 sessions is recommended, spaced approximately 4 weeks apart. Experience even greater results when paired with OptiPlus RF.
Low-Level Light Therapy (LLLT)
LLLT/Phototherapy is a gentle, non-invasive treatment that harnesses specific LED light wavelengths to stimulate cell activity in the eyes. This can increase tear production, reduce inflammation, unclog meibomian glands, and kill bacteria. It can also help decrease the appearance of facial wrinkles, acne, and rosacea.
ZEST + NuLids Eyelid Cleansing
ZEST (Zocular Eyelid System Treatment) is an okra-based eyelid and lash treatment that gently cleanses the eyelids to restore their natural state. This treatment removes debris, allergens, bacteria, Demodex mites, and build-up off the eyelid margins. We pair this with NuLids microblepharoexfoliation for an even deeper clean. It is recommended to have this performed every 6 months, just like a dental cleaning. At-home daily eyelid cleansing is still needed in between treatments, just like you brush your teeth in between dental cleanings. This treatment is excellent for those with blepharitis, demodex, eye allergies, makeup wearers, and in between lash extension sets.
OptiPlus Radiofrequency (RF)
OptiPlus RF uses controlled radiofrequency energy to precisely target the periorbital and eyelid regions, providing dry eye relief and rejuvenating your complexion. The heat generated by RF warms the meibomian glands, unclogging them and restoring their normal function to improve tear quality and reduce dryness. Other added benefits include enhanced skin tone, wrinkle reduction, and increased collagen production. A series of 4 sessions is recommended, spaced approximately 4 weeks apart. Experience even greater results when paired with OptiLight IPL.
MiBo ThermoFlo
MiBo ThermoFlo ("MiBoFlo") employs a combination of gentle heat and pressure to unclog the meibomian glands and clear these blockages effectively. The application of heat softens the hardened oils, while the gentle pressure massages the glands, allowing the oils to flow freely and restore the tear film’s natural composition. A series of 4 sessions is recommended, spaced 2-4 weeks apart.
Rinsada Ocular Surface Irrigation
When you do not produce enough tears, your eyelid traps inflammation, pollutants and allergens onto your eyeball. Rinsada uses uses high flow irrigation to remove ocular surface biofilm and irritants underneath the eyelid and in the deep recess called the fornix where normal rinsing can not reach. Rinsada is an effective treatment for cleaning the entire ocular surface, providing patients with immediate and lasting relief from dry eye and eye allergies.
Punctal Occlusion with Plugs & Lacrifill HA Gel Filler
Punctal occlusion with semi-absorbable plugs is a simple, minimally invasive procedure designed to retain moisture on the eye's surface by inserting small devices into the tear ducts to prevent tear drainage. This treatment is ideal for patients whose dry eye disease is primarily due to tear evaporation, and lasts up to 3 months. For patients seeking a longer-lasting option, Lacrifill offers a comfortable, extended-duration solution that can provide relief for up to 6 months.
Stem Cell Therapy - Amniotic Membrane
Amniotic membranes are biologic tissues that are rich in natural healing factors. They are placed on the eye to reduce inflammation and promote the repair of the ocular surface. Acting as a protective barrier, they accelerate healing, maintain moisture, and prevent further damage. This advanced therapy not only alleviates the discomfort associated with dry eyes but also supports the restoration of healthy eye tissue, offering patients a significant improvement in symptoms and eye health.
Autologous Serum Tears
Autologous serum tears are an all-natural eye drop created using the patient's own blood. The blood is centrifuged to separate the serum, which is then diluted with a sterile saline solution to a concentration suited for the patient's specific condition. As such, autologous serum eye drops contain various growth factors, vitamins, and nutrients naturally found in blood serum that are essential for corneal healing and replacing the tear film. They are particularly beneficial for treating severe dry eye conditions, persistent corneal ulcers, and other ocular surface disorders that have not responded well to conventional treatments.
