Referring Provider FAQs
We value the trust you’re placing in our team and hope we can make working with us even easier by answering a few of the most common initial questions.
As a specialty referral center, we collaborate with other eye care and healthcare professionals to provide ocular surface disease, specialty contact lens, myopia management, and non-surgical ocular aesthetic services.
-
No. BRIGHT Eyes is a specialty-only eye care clinic, and we do not provide routine vision exams, glasses, or general eye care services.
Our focus is exclusively on specialty services such as ocular surface disease, scleral lenses, myopia management, and non-surgical ocular aesthetics.
We aim to support — not replace — a patient’s primary eye care provider. Rest assured that your patient will be returned to you for all of their general eye health, vision, and/or surgical needs.
-
We provide advanced diagnostics and treatments for patients who have not improved with standard management or who require specialty care not typically available in general practices.
Many referring doctors send patients to us when dry eye, myopia, or contact lens needs become complex, time-intensive, or may affect surgical outcomes.
-
Common referrals include patients with:
Moderate to severe dry eye disease
Pre- or post-operative dry eye that may impact surgical outcomes
Ocular rosacea, chronic blepharitis, or demodex
Recurrent styes or chalazia
Lash thinning/loss or lash extension use
Ocular cosmetic concerns (e.g. under-eye bags, blepharoptosis, lower lid laxity, etc.)
Impaired blinking and corneal exposure due to neurological conditions (e.g., Bell’s Palsy, Parkinson’s, etc.)
Keratoconus, irregular corneas, or recurrent corneal erosions
Traditional contact lens fitting challenges
Progressive pediatric myopia or pediatric dry eye
Use of high-risk medications (e.g., accutane, antidepressants, preserved topical ophthalmics, etc.) known to contribute to dry eye
Diagnosis of systemic diseases (e.g., autoimmune, Sjögren's, peri-/menopause, etc.) known to contribute to dry eye
-
We strive to accommodate referrals promptly, especially for patients experiencing significant discomfort or vision limitations.
-
Yes. Our goal is collaborative care. Patients are always instructed to return back to their primary eye care provider for routine exams and ongoing general care once their specialty treatment is stabilized or completed.
-
We provide timely consultation reports and treatment updates, including findings, diagnoses, and treatment plans. We welcome direct communication to ensure coordinated care and continuity for shared patients.
-
We accept medical insurance, although coverage varies by service. Our team helps patients understand insurance and self-pay options prior to treatment.
-
Referrals can be sent via fax, secure email, or through our online referral form. Our team will contact the patient directly to coordinate scheduling.
