Project Bright Side: Bringing Eyecare Relief to Our Communities After Hurricane Helene
In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, many communities across Western North Carolina and beyond are dealing with the challenges of recovery. For many, this means replacing basic necessities like food and shelter—but for some it also includes vital eyecare supplies that were lost or damaged in the storm. That’s where Project Bright Side comes in.
What is Project Bright Side?
Project Bright Side is a community initiative founded by Dr. Rights at BRIGHT Eyes, designed to support individuals affected by the hurricane by providing FREE eyecare relief kits. These kits are meant to help those who have lost or damaged their essential eyecare products, as well as individuals suffering from dry eye and eye discomfort due to increased exposure to environmental and chemical irritants during cleanup and recovery efforts.
What’s in the Eyecare Relief Kits?
Each eyecare relief kit contains items that can provide comfort and relief for those affected by the storm, including:
Cleaning and storage supplies for eyeglasses (cleaning cloths, cleaning spray, and protective cases) or contact lenses (contact lens solution and cases).
Lubricating eye drops to soothe dry eyes and remove irritants.
Eyelid hygiene wipes to help keep eyelids clean without access to safe water.
Self-activating heated eye masks for soothing relief from dry eye and irritation, which activate without the need for power or a microwave, providing comfort on the go.
These additions help ensure that individuals can maintain their eye health, even when water and other resources are limited during recovery efforts. We’ve been distributing these kits locally in our immediate community, but as the need has grown, we’re looking to expand into other affected areas. This is where we need your help!
How You Can Help
You can contribute to Project Bright Side in two simple ways:
Purchase a gift card from our online store, and the funds will be used to purchase additional items for the eyecare relief kits.
Donate via Venmo (@brightdryeyespa), where 100% of your contribution will go toward supplying eyecare essentials to individuals in need.
Your donations will make a huge impact, allowing us to continue to provide much-needed relief to people who are dealing with not only the destruction of their homes and belongings, but also their health.
